How Listings Are Checked
This directory lists 225 dental clinics in Tasmania. The core details (name, address, phone, category, map position and Google rating) come from public Google Maps business data. Anything beyond that appears only if the clinic's own website states it.
Step 1: Read the clinic's own website
For each clinic with a website, the homepage and a few linked pages (about, team, contact, fees, payments, services) are fetched. Sentences that mention health funds, HICAPS, wheelchair access, payment plans, emergency care, opening hours or professional memberships are stored with the page address and the date. Sites that cannot be read have no extra details here.
Step 2: Confirm each sentence by reading it
A keyword match is not a fact. Every stored sentence is read, and a fact is published only when the sentence says the clinic itself offers, accepts or holds the thing. Headings, buttons, text about other organisations, hours that conflict between pages, and hours covering several sites are left out. Long promotional sentences are shown as a short neutral summary, with the original kept as the record.
Step 3: Show the source and date
Each published fact links to the clinic's page it came from and shows the date it was checked. So far,731 facts across 222 clinics have been confirmed this way. A clinic with no confirmed facts simply shows its core details.
Google Business Profile
Many clinics do not list their opening hours on their own website. For those, the weekly hours and the wheelchair-accessible entrance flag shown on the clinic's Google Business Profile are used, labelled as coming from Google and dated. Where a clinic's own website also gives hours, the website is shown instead, because a profile can lag behind the clinic. A clinic that Google marks as closed is not shown as open.
Public clinics and website links
Oral Health Services Tasmania clinics are public clinics with no website of their own. Their age group, status and booking phone line come from the Department of Health's clinic list, quoted with its page and check date. A clinic's website link is shown only if the site still loads; dead links are dropped.
What this directory does not do
- It does not check practitioners against the Ahpra register. Ahpra's public register is the record of who is registered.
- It does not publish fees. Ask a clinic for an itemised total quote.
- It does not publish patient reviews. A Google rating is shown only as a figure with its source and date.
- It does not rank or recommend clinics, and clinics do not pay for placement.
